This handsome boy LEON was found with a chain around his neck attached to an electricity pole.
He was in quite a state and needed a shower and some good brushing!
He is a very friendly and playful boy, he loves to play ball and always brings it back to you. Other toys are also very welcome.
He walks well on the lead, but can pull at times so needs some training.
He is great with people and female dogs and he is housetrained!

Loves People and Cuddles – Prefers to be Only Dog – Home with Older Children
Dimitrie and XUFA were found early morning at only 100 meters from the shelter. It was clear that they had been dumped there overnight. It was in the period that the temperature went up to 38 degrees.
It took a little while to gain their confidence but then they were happy to come with us to the shelter. They were both incredibly thirsty, poor dogs.
Xufa has a good character, she likes people very much and loves to be cuddled. With some dogs she is absolutely fine, with others less. So she would probably better go to a home where she will be the only dog.
We would also advise grown up children as she is quite strong.

Likes to Play – Funny & Naughty – Needs Patience
CARAMELA had been living on the golf course of Benissa for 2 weeks. We first tried to catch her with our normal trap, but because she received good food from people who were eating at the restaurant she was not tempted.
We then tried with our new trap, which is high and works with a remote control. And BINGO, with some tasty sausages and some patience we managed to get her in! For 2 weeks nobody could touch her there, but in the shelter she melted within 24 hours.
Caramela has a real podenco character, she is funny, naughty and follows her nose when being out on a walk. In the shelter she is good with smaller dogs with whom she likes to play.
In the beginning she will need some patience to trust new people. And she has shown herself to be a real jumper, so a high fence in the garden is a must!

Playful – Happy Boy- Loves to cuddle
We found SAPHIR on a morning in our police kennels. A lady told us later that she had managed to catch him after several weeks of trying, and that she had brough him up together with the police.
It is clear that Saphir has been hit in the past, he makes himself very small when he sees new people. But once he knows you he is a very happy boy.
Very social and loves to be cuddled. He is also a bit of a dramaqueen 😊 in the sense that he prefers to be carried out of the shelter in someone´s arms as if he is very scared, but once he is out his nose takes over and he becomes a real hunter!
Saphir loves to play and is housetrained.

Very Playful – Great Companion for Other Dog – Easy to Walk
ZOE is a very gentle Podenco. When she first arrived she was a bit nervous, but little by little she is getting there.
She likes to be together with other dogs, right now she is living together with 3, all young like her, and they all play and run around.
Zoe walks well on the lead, she is good with people once she knows them.
We do think that it would be best for her to go to a new home where there are other dogs because she just likes being with them.

DALA was found on the corner of a street with her 7 puppies.
A great mom, she took care of them until they were 8 weeks old. Since then she has been placed with a group of young dogs, and they play a lot together.
Dala is very friendly to people and is good with other dogs. She is easy to walk.
We think it would be best for her to go to a home where there is already another dog with whom she can play but also to not be left alone which scares her so now and then.

NINA is a lovely Podenca. She loves to play with her big friend Laika.
When she first arrived at the shelter she was a bit timid, but now that she knows everybody and knows the routine she has really come out of her shell.
We do think that she might be a bit timid again once she arrives in a new home, and we also believe that it would be better for her to go to a home where there are other dogs who can help her but also because she just loves to play!
She is good on the lead and follows her nose, she is a good hunter and can be strong at times.
She has a good character and would love to find a family who goes on long hikes!

Very Playful – Funny Girl- Great Family Dog
LUISA is a very pretty dog! And she has quite some character!
During the day she enjoys staying in the outside kennel with 3 or 4 fellow friends. Playing and running around is her thing.
She walks very well on the lead and enjoys going out. She is not afraid of anything and likes everything.
She is good with dogs and people and would also be a good family pet.
She can be quite naughty too so she does need some training!

Playful – Bit Nervous – Ideally Placed Together with Olaf
When we rescued KNUT from the campo he was extremely scared.
He would hide in his night kennel and would not come out for days. When he saw that his best mate Olaf with whom he was found in the campo did go out during the day he started to follow him.
Quickly he understood the routine and would run from the inside kennel to the outside kennel as soon as his door opens in the morning. He goes out on walks but only together with Olaf.
He will let you touch him, but he needs time to get to know you. When you see them play together you would not think that he is quite nervous, he jumps in the air and is running around like a lunatic….
We really hope that someone is willing to adopt Knut and Olaf together, they really love each other. They are also both housetrained.

LUNA came to us because her owner unfortunately died. She was in foster care for a while with a friend of the owner but as that person had other dogs and Luna would not always get along with them she had to leave.
Luna is very attached to people and loves to be cuddled. She has a good character and is house trained.
A couple of our volunteers take her on long walks, because even if she is 8 years old she still has quite some energy.
We are looking for a new home for Luna where she will be the only dog.

BRANDY´s story is a sad story. She had been adopted by a lovely French couple where she lived for years. But then all of a sudden one of them passed away and the other was not strong enough to keep her.
Brandy is very friendly to people, also to children, she just does not really like other dogs. She is fine when she meets them on her walks as long as they do not come in her face, but she would prefer to be the only dog in her new home.
She has leishmania but it is under control, so she only needs tablets on a daily basis.
We hope to find a nice home for her soon as she does not really like shelter life. There is too much noise and too much going on. She just prefers a quiet nice home with a warm bed, loving people and nice walks, nothing more!

Affectionate – Playful- Great Family Dog
TINTIN is a very funny little boy. We rescued him from a place where he lived with 2 other dogs in the middle of stacks of rubbish.
He was very scared at the time and it took us some time to catch him. At the shelter he melted down very quickly and became a very funny and affectionate little boy.
He loves to pay with the other puppies, there were at one point 6 of them, all approximately the same age, and they were having a lot of fun!
He is also good with children and with people in general.
