Very Friendly – Quite Some Energy – Escape Artist – Family Dog
BOOMER was found in the forest of Teulada.
He has shown to be a real escape artist, he knows how to climb the fence!
So for this very friendly family dog we will need to find a home with a walled garden, because otherwise he will know his way out!
Boomer likes his walk, he is easy on the lead.
He has quite some energy so a family who likes to hike or go for long walks would suit him very well!

Playful -Funny -Likes to Cuddle
SANDY was found in the campo in Benissa and was in quite a bad state.
She had a large open wound on her leg, was full of ticks and fleas and was extremely thin.
After a couple of days of hospitalization and a couple of weeks of recovery at the shelter her wounds have healed and she has now been able to join the other dogs in the outside play areas. And she just loves that!
Sandy is a very funny dog, she is quite naughty at times, but has not destroyed her huge bed which she just loves!
She likes to cuddle, she likes to play. It is just a really funny lovely young podenco!

Escape Artist- Lovely Character – Good with Dogs and People
KIWI has a great character. He is a beautiful podenco with his little beard!
He loves to play and shares an outside kennel with 2 other podenco´s.
This outside kennel has a roof…the first day he arrived in the shelter he managed to jump over a fenced kennel that did not have a roof! 10 minutes later he was happily shaking his tail at the frontdoor!
It is very important that the new owner has a good (high) fenced or walled garden! Kiwi also likes to go out on walks and likes to hunt

Good Temperament- Good with Other Dogs and People- Gentle
RUFY was surrendered by his owners who unfortunately due to their advanced age could no longer take care of him nor going out for walks, so he was attached to a chain in their garden all day long.
He is a lovely and sweet boy who gets along with all the other dogs. He is also good with children, and housetrained.
He does like to hunt outside and really loves his walks.

Loves People and Cuddles – Prefers to be Only Dog – Home with Older Children
Dimitrie and XUFA were found early morning at only 100 meters from the shelter. It was clear that they had been dumped there overnight. It was in the period that the temperature went up to 38 degrees.
It took a little while to gain their confidence but then they were happy to come with us to the shelter. They were both incredibly thirsty, poor dogs.
Xufa has a good character, she likes people very much and loves to be cuddled. With some dogs she is absolutely fine, with others less. So she would probably better go to a home where she will be the only dog.
We would also advise grown up children as she is quite strong.

Likes to Play – Funny & Naughty – Needs Patience
CARAMELA had been living on the golf course of Benissa for 2 weeks. We first tried to catch her with our normal trap, but because she received good food from people who were eating at the restaurant she was not tempted.
We then tried with our new trap, which is high and works with a remote control. And BINGO, with some tasty sausages and some patience we managed to get her in! For 2 weeks nobody could touch her there, but in the shelter she melted within 24 hours.
Caramela has a real podenco character, she is funny, naughty and follows her nose when being out on a walk. In the shelter she is good with smaller dogs with whom she likes to play.
In the beginning she will need some patience to trust new people. And she has shown herself to be a real jumper, so a high fence in the garden is a must!

Playful – Happy Boy- Loves to cuddle
We found SAPHIR on a morning in our police kennels. A lady told us later that she had managed to catch him after several weeks of trying, and that she had brough him up together with the police.
It is clear that Saphir has been hit in the past, he makes himself very small when he sees new people. But once he knows you he is a very happy boy.
Very social and loves to be cuddled. He is also a bit of a dramaqueen 😊 in the sense that he prefers to be carried out of the shelter in someone´s arms as if he is very scared, but once he is out his nose takes over and he becomes a real hunter!
Saphir loves to play and is housetrained.

NINA is a lovely Podenca. She loves to play with her big friend Laika.
When she first arrived at the shelter she was a bit timid, but now that she knows everybody and knows the routine she has really come out of her shell.
We do think that she might be a bit timid again once she arrives in a new home, and we also believe that it would be better for her to go to a home where there are other dogs who can help her but also because she just loves to play!
She is good on the lead and follows her nose, she is a good hunter and can be strong at times.
She has a good character and would love to find a family who goes on long hikes!

Loves Long Walks – Very Good with People – Prefers to be Only Dog
LUNA came to us because her owner unfortunately died. She was in foster care for a while with a friend of the owner but as that person had other dogs and Luna would not always get along with them she had to leave.
Luna is very attached to people and loves to be cuddled. She has a good character and is house trained.
A couple of our volunteers take her on long walks, because even if she is 8 years old she still has quite some energy.
We are looking for a new home for Luna where she will be the only dog.
