Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How does the adoption process work?
Answer: When you are interested in one of our dogs, we kindly ask you to connect with us so we can jointly establish if your home situation is suitable for the dog and if the dog you are interested in is suitable for you and your family. We may do a home check to make sure that their new home is suitable for our dogs. And when you adopt a dog we start with a 2 week home trial (except for puppies and dogs adopted abroad), and after this period is successfully completed the adoption is final. You can always contact us for any question or advice.
Question: Why do you charge a fee for an adoption?
Answer: There are many costs involved in looking after the dogs in our care; therefore, we ask for a donation upon adoption to cover their costs. The cost varies depending on the age of the dog. For special cases of dogs in need, the seniors and pairs of dogs, there will be a special fee. All dogs are fully vaccinated and they have a microchip, passport and are sterilized/castrated (except for puppies).
Question: Can I bring my current pets to the shelter to meet the new one?
Answer: In alignment and agreement with the Shelter staff it is possible to arrange a ” meet & greet” with your new dog.
Question: How many dogs do you help on an annual basis?
.
Answer: On annual basis we support around 250 dogs. We care and rejoin lost dogs with their owner and we have many happy adoptions with our dogs finding their forever home with new families.
Question: I am 65+ years old – can I adopt a puppy?
Answer: No, we have an Adoption Age Policy in place as communicated on our website as the age of the adopter and the age of the dog need to be aligned in terms of life expectancies and life changes. This policy served to try and prevent the dogs from returning to the shelter.
